Battery-Containing Products – Instruction for Pre-Registration of Battery
Instruction improvements have been made outlining the importance of ensuring the battery is registered in WERCSmart prior to creating the battery-containing product. The battery manufacturer for your product should provide the 7-Digit WERCSmart Product ID for ease of locating the battery for your registration.
Ear Buds or Headphones with Charging Case
Ear Buds/Headphones accompanied with a charging case must have a minimum of three (3) batteries included in the registration. When an improper quantity of batteries is in the registration, the error message will appear. Additionally, the indication of how the battery is packaged for these types of products will be defaulted to be “Installed in the Product and shipped with additional batteries not within the Product.
Lithium-Ion Battery Types Only for Specific Product Types
Specific product types will only be permitted to select Lithium-Ion Battery types in the registration due to the nature of the product:
- Jump Starter with Lithium Battery
- Lithium battery vehicle (incl. Hoverboards/ Segways/ E-Bike/ E-Trike/ Scooter/ Wheelchair/ Power Chair/ Skateboard)
When a Lithium-Ion battery type is installed in the equipment, the transportation data collection has been improved, offering only applicable options for U.S. DOT, IMDG, IATA and TDG.
