What is a Private Label?
A product is considered Private Label when the product is packaged/sold under the name of a retailer rather than the name of the manufacturer.
If you are unsure whether or not your product is considered a Private Label, please contact your internal company team to confirm prior to making a selection in WERCSmart.
During the registration process, you will see the question shown below to answer whether or not your product is a Private Label:
Special Note:
All Private Label Products being sold to Walmart require a Safety Data Sheet to be Authored each time a Product is registered, recertified or forwarded to Walmart. If you are only adding a new UPC, you will not need to request a new Authored SDS for the product unless there is no previously authored SDS present.
Request to Author is pre-selected during the registration process.
For all other retailers, you should be able to upload your own Safety Data Sheet when registering as a Private label.
If you find that you have accidentally marked your product as a Private Label and submitted your product, please contact Customer Support via phone call, chat or by submitting a ticket to have this question reopened for you to edit.
