Dual Language document requirement for battery registrations.
If you upload a Safety Data Sheet when registering a battery in WERCSmart, you will need to provide the SDS in both English and French to be in accordance with Globally Harmonized Standards (GHS).
A dual language product label is also required per GHS standards. Unfortunately, this can only be created/provided by the battery manufacturer.
If you are registering your battery with an Article Information Sheet (AIS), this document will satisfy the GHS regulations and you will not need to upload dual language SDS's. Please upload your AIS in the battery registration to satisfy the GHS requirement.
Please take the following steps in the event that you do not have dual language SDS's to upload with your battery:
Contact the manufacturer of your battery to see if they have dual language SDS's that can be provided to you.
You may also contact your manufacturer to see if they are able to provide you with an Article Information Sheet (AIS) instead as this can fulfill the dual language requirement.
If your battery manufacturer is unable to provide an AIS or a dual language SDS, you can request that a dual language SDS is authored by UL by taking the following steps:
On your home page, select the three dots below Actions to the right of your battery registration.
Open your product registration by selecting either "Edit", "Update Data", or "Update Required" from the dropdown list.
Proceed to the "Review and Submit" page within the registration by selecting that tab on the top of the page.
Select the "Regulatory Documents to Provide" section.
You will now see the page shown below:
Please select the circled options shown above if you need both an English and French SDS authored by UL.
If you have an English SDS, you can select "I certify that I have an OSHA-Compliant Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for this product." and then you can upload the English SDS.
After uploading your English SDS, you may select the option "I need a WHMIS-Compliant bilingual Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authored for this product." to have only the French version authored.
You will be charged $375.00 for each SDS that is authored once you submit your registration for review.
Taxes will also be applied to this purchase and this will be reflected within your invoice.
After you have made your selections from the page shown above, you can continue through the remainder of the registration by selecting the green "Continue" buttons on each page.
After the 2 business day review process, you will be provided with your authored SDS(s) which you can download within your account.
After downloading your authored SDS(s), you can reopen your battery registration to upload your new SDS(s) to the registration and fulfill this requirement moving forward.
