Battery selection for registering battery-containing products.
When registering a product that contains a battery, the battery must be registered separately in WERCSmart first, to complete the registration for the battery-containing product.

Before you register your battery-containing product, the battery contained in the product must be registered in WERCSmart.
All types of batteries must be registered in WERCSmart before being applied to a battery-containing product registration.
Generally, the manufacturer of the battery will register the battery in their own WERCSmart account and then provide you with the 7-digit WERCSmart product ID (WPSID).
If the manufacturer is unwilling to register their battery, you can also register the battery within your own account as long as the battery manufacturer provides you with the following:
The Dual Language Safety Data Sheet, or the Article Information Sheet (AIS) and Technical Data Sheet (TDS).
Dual language versions of the battery's product label.
Once the battery is registered successfully in WERCSmart meaning that it was submitted and reviewed successfully, you can add the battery to your battery-containing product.
Now that the battery is registered in WERCSmart, you can complete the battery-containing product registration by taking the following steps:
Make sure that the product type of your battery-containing product is one of the battery-containing product types.
The most common product type is "Battery-Containing Product", however, there are many other product types to choose from that may better define your product type. For a full list, type "Battery" in the product type box and you will see a dropdown of the other battery containing product type options.
On your home page, select the three dots to the right of your battery-containing product under the "Actions" title.
Select either "Update data", "Update Required" or "Edit" from the dropdown list. Depending on what the current status of your product, different options will show. Any of these options will open your registration for edits to be made.
Proceed to the "Product Characteristics" page by clicking that title from the upper part of the screen.
Select the "Product Includes Battery" section.
Answer the question regarding how your battery is packaged within the product by selecting one of the options.
Select the green box just below the "Battery Type" title and choose the battery that is being registered with this product.
If the battery type is "Lithium Ion" or "Lithium Primary", you will need to fill in the field for the Watt Hours or the Grams of Lithium respectively.
You may now select the box below "Manufacturer" and type in the 7-digit WPSID of the battery to search the database for your battery.
You may also search by the manufacturer name that registered the battery and the name of the battery as it was registered.
The 7-digit WPSID of the battery must be provided by the company that registered the battery.
Once you see your desired battery appear in the dropdown below the search box, select the battery to add this to the registration.
You can also add additional batteries if needed for your product registration.
You may now continue through the remainder of the registration until the product is submitted.
If you are unable to find your battery when you search for it in the database, please take the following steps:
Review the battery type you have selected to ensure you are searching for the correct battery.
Confirm that the Grams of Lithium or Watt Hour values you have selected are accurate to the battery that was registered.
These fields only appear when registering a Lithium Primary or Lithium Ion battery.
