Publicly Disclosed versus Trade Secret in WERCSmart
When you enter in your ingredients in WERCSmart, there will be an option to select if the ingredient is publicly disclosed or if it is trade secret.
Here is an example of the two options when you are adding ingredients to a WERCSmart product registration:
Make your selection based on how your ingredient is displayed to the public.
Select the "Publicly Disclosed" option if your company displays the ingredient to the public.
Publicly Disclosed - the ingredient can be found on the SDS, your product label, or on your company's website.
Select the "Trade Secret" option if the ingredient is not disclosed to the public.
Trade Secret - The ingredient cannot be found on your SDS, product label or on your company's website.
Special note:
The option that you select between these options will not disclose any additional information about your product to the public aside from the disclosure that your company already provides.
An ingredient's Public Disclosure setting, in conjunction with a Retailer's Data Tier Consent, allows the product registration to comply with various Retailer requirements.
