Editing the product type/recommended use for your product
The selection you make for "Type of Product" will change the questions that are asked within your product registration. Consequently, to successfully register your product in WERCSmart, the Product Type chosen must accurately represent your product.

If your product has not yet been submitted for review, you may edit the product type by following the steps below:
Please select the three dots to the right of the product that you would like to edit on your homepage.
Then select "Edit" from the dropdown list.
The system will now open your product registration for editing.
Please navigate to the first tab of the registration process titled "Product Type", then select the section titled "The Product".
Depending on the last revision made on the product, you may be brought directly to this page after clicking "Edit" from the three dots.
Once you are within the section titled "The Product", please proceed to the bottom of this section and choose the option labeled "Type of Product" (select) with a box to the right.
Please select the box and begin typing your product type. Once you begin typing, autocomplete will list the available product types, matching what you've entered to that point.
If a product type is already entered, you may click on the box where the existing product type is shown to edit and replace the entry.
You may then select the most accurate product type for your product from the dropdown list shown.
If your product has already been submitted for review, but was not suspended by the Assessment team, please follow the steps below to make an update to your product type:
Please contact Customer Support via phone call, live chat or by submitting a ticket and request to have the option for editing the product type applied to your product.
Be sure to provide the WERCSmart product ID number (WPS ID), when you make this request.
Once you have been notified by the Customer Support team that your product has been placed in recertification, please refresh your WERCSmart home page so you may edit the product type.
The WPS ID that you requested to edit should now appear in red, indicating that the product "Needs Your Attention".
Please select the three dots to the right of this product you would like to edit.
Then select "Update Required" from the dropdown list.
The system will now open your product registration for editing.
Please navigate to the first tab of the registration process titled "Product Type", then select the section titled "The Product".
Depending on the last revision made on the product, you may be brought directly to this page after clicking "Update Required" from the three dots.
Once you are within the section titled "The Product", please proceed to the bottom of this section and choose the option labeled "Type of Product" (select) with a box to the right.
Please select the box and begin typing your product type. Once you begin typing, autocomplete will list the available product types, matching what you've entered to that point.
If you already have a product type entered, you may click on the box where the existing product type is shown to edit and replace the entry.
You may then select the most accurate product type for your product from the dropdown list shown.
Once you have successfully updated the product type, please continue through the steps of the product registration until the system brings you back to the home page and your product has been resubmitted.
If your product has already been submitted for review, and suspended by the Assessment team, please follow the steps below to make an update to your product type:
Please select the three dots to the right of the product that you would like to edit on your homepage.
Then select "Update Required" from the dropdown list.
The system will now open your product registration for editing.
Please navigate to the first tab of the registration process titled "Product Type", then select the section titled "The Product".

If you are unable to see the option to update the product type on this page, please contact Customer Support to have the product type option opened allowing you to edit this component.
If you already have a product type entered, you may click on the box where the existing product type is shown to edit and replace the entry.
You may then select the most accurate product type for your product from the dropdown list shown.
Once you have successfully updated the product type, please continue through the steps of the product registration until the system brings you back to the home page and your product has been resubmitted.
Special Note:
Editing the product type for your product can potentially have a large effect on the information you have entered in your product registration. Please be sure that your product requires a product type update prior to making this change to avoid losing any data that was entered into the registration prior to the update being made.
