National Drug Code for Pharmacy and Over-the-Counter Product Registrations
Great news! When registering products in the categories of Over the Counter or Pharmacy, you’ll be prompted to provide the National Drug Code (NDC) if Drug Facts labeling applies. For products without Drug Facts labeling, including an NDC is optional but recommended if available for importing data directly into the registration.
Providing the NDC enables automatic import of key data from Daily Med, including the full ingredient list. You’ll only need to specify the concentration of each ingredient, significantly reducing manual entry.
For the overall product, much of the data that exists in Daily Med will be imported directly into your registration, including the full list of ingredients! You will need to provide the concentration, or percentage, of each ingredient listed, but the majority of data entry for the overall registration will be imported from this source of data.
At the UPC level, you can associate specific NDCs for each size variant, provided the formulation and concentrations remain consistent.
For existing registrations, NDCs may be required when updating product data. While updating NDCs for existing UPCs is encouraged, it is not mandatory at this time. You can continue adding new UPCs with NDCs without retroactively updating existing entries.
For example, when registering an Insect Bite / Sting Treatment with Drug Facts labeling, enter the NDC automatically populates the product’s names, including the generic name. Note: actual names and NDCs are hidden for demonstration purposes.
In the ingredient table, fields such as CAS Number and chemical name are auto-populated from imported data. You only need to enter the concentration for each ingredient. When applicable, the ‘Active Ingredient’ indicator is set by default. All imported ingredients are marked as Publicly Disclosed, as the information is sourced from a public website. You will need to select the most appropriate Public Name for each ingredient.
For new registrations in the Portal, entering an NDC will automatically assign it to the initial UPC entry. Additional UPCs can include NDC variations based on size, if applicable.
State Pesticide Data for EPA Exempt Registrations
When registering a U.S. Pesticide product that is exempt from EPA requirements, you can indicate at the state level if registration is not required. For example, the product shown is a pheromone trap, which does not require EPA registration, though some states may still require limited registration.
On the State data collection, there is an option to indicate if the state does not require registration of this product.
Ingredients in Formulated Registrations
Ingredient data collection has been updated to include clearer instructions. Additionally, the Ingredient Reference Number has been relocated beneath the main ingredient table.
The Ingredient Reference Number is optional and can be used to track versions of internal formulations. It also enables filtering in the 'My Products' view using the ’More Filters’ option as shown below.
