Appliance with Gas Registration Changes – New Refrigerant Section and Regulatory Updates
Why am I seeing a new Refrigerant section?
To support updated regulatory requirements, appliances using a gas as a refrigerant now includes a dedicated Refrigerant section where refrigerant-specific information is collected.
What refrigerant types can I select?
You may select one of the following options:
- Flammable, non-toxic
- Non-flammable, non-toxic
- Other
Additional questions will be presented based on the refrigerant type selected.
Why am I receiving a UPC refrigerant validation error?
The Portal now validates refrigerant information entered at the UPC level against product-level refrigerant information. If the values do not match, the Portal will display an error and prevent continuation until the information is aligned.
Review both the product registration and UPC details to ensure consistency.
Why can I no longer edit transportation information?
For certain refrigerant types, transportation classifications are automatically assigned based on regulatory requirements.
Flammable, Non-Toxic Refrigerants
- UN3358
- Refrigerating Machines
- Hazard Class 2.1
Non-Flammable, Non-Toxic Refrigerants
- UN2857
- Refrigerating Machines
- Hazard Class 2.2
These classifications are system-generated and cannot be modified.
When do I need to enter transportation information manually?
If you select Other as the refrigerant type:
- No transportation classification is automatically generated.
- Transportation details must be provided for each applicable transportation mode.
Can I update refrigerant information for older registrations?
Yes. Certain Appliance with Gas registrations submitted before the applicable 2026 cutoff may now access a Refrigerant tab during recertification.
This allows users and internal reviewers to update refrigerant information to meet current requirements.
